He uses his entanglements with worldly authorities to the advantage of King Jesus. In general, the response of the governing authorities is all over the map. Herod Antipas arrests and kills church members (Acts 12:1–2). The Roman proconsul of Cyprus believes their message and converts (Acts 13:12), as does one synagogue ruler (Acts 18:8).
